Supplies packed!

Featured

Over 400 pounds of supplies for the refugees are packed and ready to accompany the team! The supplies will be split between refugee relief and morale/care bags for the troops. Electrolytes, eczema creams, Essential Oils, baby rash powders, jackets, and other medical/nutritional aids are just some of the supplies we are able to bring thanks to all the support. We will be purchasing the other necessary items like food, clothing, heaters, diapers etc in country for refugees. The team is busy preparing for this next deployment and would appreciate your prayers for every detail including grace to spend needed time in communion with the Lord, packing the right things, taking care of bills at home, spending time with loved ones etc Everyone is excited and at peace with the upcoming work the Lord has set before us. We just wanted to take a moment to thank you all for your prayers and keep you in the loop. I’ll leave you with the verse that brought me sweet hope this morning in the midst of such evil of today: “Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord and do good; Dwell in the land and feed on His Faithfulness.” Psalm 37

Part 2, counting down.

This 2nd deployment has been much larger and in depth than our first whirlwind one. We were waiting on approvals from the Kurdish government and making sure everything was ok. We waited for 3 months and then got an oK and a request to be there in a couple weeks! So here goes another whirlwind but everything is going smoothly and our departure is coming up quickly. We want to take a moment and thank you all for supporting this for the last 6 months and give you a quick update so you know how to pray if you feel led.

Our team of 10 has a threefold plan:  1. We will continue the refugee relief as we did last time with clinics, distribution of needed supplies, and offering prayer. 2. This time around we are partnering with two other organizations to assist in the housing and care of women and children recently released from sexual slavery. This matter is very close to our hearts. We understand the difficulties that may be faced in housing and ministering to people coming out of such horrors but we are very thankful and motivated to move into this arena. Four of our team members are attending training on helping women with severe PTSD and we are prayerfully pursuing avenues to make the home as tranquil as possible. The groundwork is being laid and we plan to be able to open our the rehabilitation-house for treatment and assistance very soon.

3. We are humbled and inspired by the sacrifice and bravery of the Peshmerga and hope to bless them with morale bags and lifesaving medical instruction from our team medics. The morale bags include things like electrolytes, gum, aspirin etc. We will be making medic bags which include CAT tourniquets, combat gauze etc and distributing both as we thank them and pray for them.

It is such an honor serving with all of you. We read and pray for every person who sends us a note, letter, or donation. God bless you all!

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

1.PRAYER: for those being persecuted and enslaved, those displaced, the brave Kurds fighting on the front lines, and our team.

2.SUPPORT:  We currently need assistance to sponsor team members for deployment. You can financially support at the “donate/contact us” tab. Please annotate SPONSOR if you’d like to support a missionary going. If it is not directed toward that we send all donations directly to the refugee relief.

3. PERSONNEL: If you have a strong foundation upon Jesus, relevant skills and feel led to help physically, please contact us at ftgfpsalm91@gmail.com

An update from a heavy heart…

Featured

Apologies, our updates are sporadic and that is my fault (Amanda). I am pregnant (yey), the naseau and fatigue has slammed me hard the first trimester but here is the latest:

Toby and Katie, the paramedic and nurse, are home safely, enjoying time with their excited families. We just got home from wiring $3,000 to our friends at CRI to purchase and distribute moral bags, medical treatment and medical equipment for the Peshmerga troops who are fighting ISIS and liberating the villages.

Someone contacted us via Steve Quayle’s website who has worked in Iraq and was a great help. He is working out donating coats for the refugees! Winter is coming so what a blessing that is. We also sent over donations when Toby was in country to purchase many blankets and winter clothes in preparation for the coming cold season. In addition to medical care, We hope to provide hundreds of refugee families with heaters and coats when we arrive.

Our team is all home safe now, but preparations for our 2nd deployment are already well under way. We hope to have a new team assembled and ready to depart in the coming weeks. The other potential members are confirming shortly if and when they will be joining us. We have 8 huge boxes of medical supplies, electrolytes, and equipment and many more en route to accompany us for round 2.

The Lord has provided us with an amazing interpreter who is giving us intelligence on the ground and updates with the Peshmerga and refugees. We look forward to working with him when we arrive. Our interpreter has shared that the rain is cuasing the Kurdish forces extra hardships and they need adequate rain gear. We were so blessed to work with the Peshmerga and are working to continue to serve and bless them as much as possible.

Lastly, something that is weighing heavily our hearts. This next deployment we hope to continue working with a partner organization in setting up assistance and safe houses for women who have been suffering in captivity. Some have been able to escape or have been rescued from ISIS’ horrific sex slavery and need help, as many have no family left in the region (they have either fled or been killed). The women and young girls being used as sex slaves weighs on our hearts daily. I just read an article which is posted below that says the women are unable to use the toilet because they are being raped so many times a day. They were able to send out a call and asked if friendly forces could just bomb them all to end their suffering. This is not something we can ignore or pretend or distract away. Our hearts are shredded knowing this is taking place right now, please please join us in praying for these captives. Fasting and prayer WILL make a difference.

Ways to help:

1. Raise awareness with the goal of calling people to prayer for the miraculous release and healing of those in captivity. Prayer does work and I know if we are faithful with this mighty weapon we wield, we WILL see and hear of many women delivered mightily.

2. We are collecting donations for all of the above but are hearts are most burdened to act on the sex slaves behalf. You can donate at our donation tab.

3. Pray for our team. I am working through a certification that will train me to deal and assist with victims of trauma so we can help them emotionally also. Jeremiah is working daily on all the small and large details that goes into this operation. We ask for prayer for God grace, wisdom, encouragement, and to do all in His Love.

4. Contact us at FTGFpsalm91@gmail.com if you have any other ways you can help or be involved.

Another busy day. 8,000 Trace Minerals Research Packets, $2000 worth of medical supplies, and more supplies are en route. Tourniquets and Arabic tracts were donated and ready to go to the Refugees. More potential team members are being interviewed and we also are partnering with great organizations. We have met some amazing people along the way and are amazed and humbled by what God is doing.

We are grateful to be apart of this and see Gods goodness at work but we continually feel a heavy burden to pray and cry out for mercy for those still captive, those families torn apart, those still sitting in ISIS’ shadow with no help, and for the Kurdish fighters. Please continue to intercede with us for this horrendous situation. Not one of us is helpless, please set a daily timer and choose a verse to agree with against the enemy and for the refugees, set up a prayer group, pray before bed, fast, and pray for the burden of the Lord. Ask for divine strategic prayer strategy. Please don’t neglect the power of intercession. I will leave you with this quote and hope it reminds and encourages us to intercede. It is time to go to war..

“A terrifying thing happened while evil basked in its success: prayer and fasting. A godless man had no idea the well of divine power a person could access from praying knees.” -Beth Moore writing on what was happening as the edict had gone out to slaughter the Jews.

Round 2 !!

Hello friends. Here is a long overdue update letter from the behind the scenes unit.
Jeremiah and I just returned from a week of almost daily meetings with our friend and huge supporter Steve Quayle. We hashed out and prayed together on what the Lord is leading. Nothing is for sure yet but after 2 weeks of praying and seeking and many dreams here is some of the promptings we feel so far. We want to share them with all of you as this is something that many of you have sown into and we need your prayers continuously.

On the ground in Iraq there are 2 team members, Toby and Katie, assisting CRI, another relief organization. We sent over $5300 today to the 2 team members for electrolytes, tourniquets, and misc supplies. Thank God for His provision!

We are working on a 2 fold plan back home. We are working on assembling a team for a 2nd deployment to deploy later this month. The main goal on our hearts is not only to give the Kurdish Army Medical kits, but to train the troops how to use them. We also hope to purchase more equipment, medical supplies and bring Essential Oils for refugees in an area they are worse off than those in major parts of the city. As we are over there serving we feel we need to take many notes and learn as much as we can so we can learn from and retain the experiential knowledge gained, especially if we are called to continue helping in this fashion for a longer period in Iraq or possibly other places of dire need.

Whether we stay for a prolonged period or this operation does extend to other areas of need, we desire to bring others in to help the cause and learn to deepen our spiritual walk and practical skills to fulfill the Isaiah 61 mandate along wtih learning to live under/walk out Psalm 91. We see many people that are either extremely skilled in tactical, medical, survival skills and other valuable practical skills etc… or they are very versed in spiritual matters. If we could choose one, your spiritual walk with the Lord IS the most important. But we believe we are entering a time where those lines are to be blurred. We need to seek the Lord as we use the gifts and tools He has blessed us with practically. All of it to be used for His Glory, every skill and training we need to do unto our King.

We are in the brainstorming stage on Part 2 and how we want to bring all of this together. We are waiting on the Lord for His ideas and direction. We appreciate all your support to futher help those being oppressed and to work with/train those willing to fight the oppressors like the amazing Peshmerga.

How you can get help:
1. The main things we can use to bring over are – Essential Oils (especially oils like Thieves, Lavender, Peppermint, Lemon, Oregano/Hyssop, Ginger, Frankincense, Elemi etc) Companies we trust quality wise are Young Living and DoTerra, I’m sure there are more but we have researched both of those and they are excellent. Hydrocortisone creams and TRACE MINERALS electrolytes are also very important. You can ship them to Jeremiah F. 2551 East Ave S suite G-169, Palmdale, Ca 93550 and we will bring them with the next team members.
2. Prayer! Prayer is more valuable than gold to us. Please cover the refugees, the troops fighting, the captives, and the teams serving.
3. Financial Support: you can go to our donate tab above and donate via paypal or mail a check to the address listed above

Thank you all! It is an honor serving with you.

CAM00936

Teaching Combat Trauma Medical Class

 photo 3

“We just finished our first training session for the Peshmerga. We taught combat trauma wound treatment, they were very appreciative. We also assessed them and passed out moral bags. Now they have asked us to go with security escorts from front line unit to front line unit teaching them how to do combat aid. We are buying and assembling trauma kits, teaching them how to use them and will be treating casualties as well. We are doing a 3-4 day mission to bring medical treatment, aid kits and training to the units who need it most.

CAM00948

Soldier survived ISIS suicide bomb being treated by our team

Attached is a picture of one of the kits we have been training them to use and have been passing out. They are about 8-2O dollars per kit, depending on the cost and availability of tourniquets. The tourniquets are extremely hard to track down, most of the soldiers have never seen one before. We’ve had to buy materials to make field expedient ones, to put in the kits now that we can’t find any more to buy

CAM00950

If people can get companies to DONATE equipment, we need CAT tourniquets, Quick Clot Combat Gauze, Hyfin chest seals, needle decompression kits and pressure bandages (Israeli type).

If people want to buy equipment to send to us, please ONLY BUY the tourniquets. If they want to buy anything other than tourniquets, it would be better to just donate to us because we can buy the rest of the equipment here at the local medical bazaars. Shipping stuff over here is ridiculously expensive, it’s worth it for the tourniquets because they are so hard to find here, but not worth it for anything else, as it’s much cheaper to just buy here.

They can find the address to ship to or donate under the DONATE tab at the website fightthegoodfight91.com.

The Lord is doing a work here.

Thank you for all your help Steve, it’s truly making a difference for the refugees and the Peshmerga troops. They are standing in the gap for all of humanity, fighting the evil that is trying to force itself on the world.

Bless you and all who have helped the cause.”

Encouraging those on the front lines…

God has opened up an amazing opportunity to bless the Kurdish Army so they will be helping them when invited. The team is still providing food, clothing, and medical aid to the refugees. Jeremiah was amazed at the doors God is opening, thank you all for the prayers. The team made 100 care packages and treated the soldiers who have been described as being worse off than some of the refugees with no medical aid, fatigued, and fighting alone. Here is Jeremiahs email below:

“Today, we went to give the Kurdish Peshmerga (army) aid. We showed up and the high ranking officers made us sit down for a large lunch. We felt guilty eating when there are people in such dire circumstances, but we would have offended them greatly. It is their custom to bless visitors. They explained to us that they are so grateful for us to come and help, because they really need medical aid. They said they are also VERY grateful for the US air strikes that have helped them push back ISIS they said they are not just fighting for Kurdistan, they are fighting for humanity, because ISIS is against all of humanity. “

cookpray

Please pray for the Kurdish fighters, Jeremiah was deeply moved by them and said they are fighting for all of us. They are alone on the front lines with hardly any equipment or medical aid. Many even use their own income to purchase their weapon and uniform. The kurdish army has pushed ISIS back out of a small village they took over and some refugees were able to return. Pray for them, please, they are the only ones laying down their lives on the front lives. The team attended a funeral yesterday for a Kurdish fighter who was captured by ISIS, tortured for weeks, and then murdered.

jerkurd kur

“It’s amazing, they have opened their lands to refugees from any creed and ethnicity. Now they fight to push ISIS back from the cities they forced the refugees out of, so they can go back home. They defend themselves and the refugees who aren’t even Kurdish. They are the ones who fought to open the road and get the 40,000 Yizidis off Mt. Sinjar. I felt such a burden to help them, to really help them any way possible. I felt so guilty our country/administration could have wiped out and can wipe out ISIS completely and does the bare minimum or less. They are so noble and honorable, I felt so appreciative for their perspective and for their willingness to stand up and fight for all of us. They are warriors with strong spirits and noble character, we delivered many care packages and aid to dozens of soldiers.                                                                      They have been persecuted for years by Saddam, and now ISIS wants to destroy them and the refugees they have taken in. Many throughout history have tried to wipe them out. They have developed a warrior culture so similar to the Israelis it’s crazy, many of the commanders look and act like Benjamin Netanyahu does, such a calm confidence and air of firmness and respect. We tried to pray for and thank every soldier, but they would always thank us so much more for coming to support them and help them, it was so moving. We prayed with each one we treated, they where so open to the prayer and it blessed them. I love these men. “

  milfoot1

It takes a lot to truly impress and move my husband, I immediately wanted to do all I could over here to rally help for them. I will post at the end what our plan of action is.

“It looks like they will invite us back regularly to give medical aid and they specifically requested a combat trauma class from us; what to do if your buddy gets shot…etc. Right up our alley. It will be amazing help to them to pass that knowledge on. They have guys dying from the simplest gunshot and shrapnel wounds…stuff that they shouldn’t be dying from. If they had a couple hours training, they would have lived. They are in desperate need of CAT tourniquets, if you can provide bulk shipments or get donations so we can purchase, it would be amazingly helpful and could save many lives. “

How you can help:

1.  CAT tourniquets &  sunglasses. A more detailed list is on the way. We are asking people to call military companies, gear suppliers, military surplus stores etc and see if they are willing to donate. If they are I can arrange shipping (its complicated) and can provide them documentation if needed.

2.  Donations at the paypal button under the donations tab above and will be making purchases in country whenever the needed items are found.

3. Pray, Pray for this amazing group of men that are standing alone against such an evil. They have told Jeremiah that they feel like the world has forgotten about them and they are alone but they also tell him how grateful they are for the airstrikes.

Look for the Post titled “Plan of Action” coming soon once a detailed list and more information is finalized.

Delivered from the hand of the wicked. (Psalm 82)

Praise Report: 10 women/children were rescued from their captivity. 2 men lost their lives freeing them. We don’t know who these rescuers were/are but were overwhelmed and humbled to hear of their sacrifices. The rescue was incredible but the nightmare these women are enduring didn’t end there. ISIS takes all of their documentation and Identification making it impossible to get through the strict checkpoints to safe territories. Many people prayed and prayed and we just got word they miraculously made it to a friendly zone. Another group of about a dozen people escaped from ISIS and made it to a safe city but also did not have documentation. They were held up in limbo but thankfully and miraculously made it through and some were reunited with their families.

Reports like this encourage us to pray fervently for it to be done again. Let it boost your faith and fill you with praise! Please continue to intercede for the captives, widows, and orphans. Also please pray for their rehabilitation as many are committing suicide, they have no way to make a living being women in a country like this, and the horrific trauma continues.

It is an honor joining in prayer with you all. We hope to share more stories like this soon as we believe together in agreement for multiplication of this testimony.

The Waiting Game…

Round 1 to Iraq was a rapid deployment for our team. It was less than 2 weeks from the first thought to boots on the ground. It was incredible. It was possible to go so quickly due to operating under the umbrella of another established organization and the doors God opened. We went in support  CRI, the relief organization was doing, it is great amazing work and we were blessed to assist with the refugee relief. We were also so thankful and humbled to treat and medically train the Peshmerga.

This 2nd round for a 2nd set of team members we have felt heavily burdened to work towards relief for the increasing number of the women captured and forced into horrific sexual slavery. We also feel called to train the Peshmerga in a more extensive and effective way so they can hopefully prevent the terrorists from continuing these heinous acts. This is breaking new ground in many ways so we don’t have a path to hop on or something to operate under so there is much more that is going into it behind the scenes this time around. My husband has been working at this full time and loves the prayer support to get this done. He constantly asks for prayer for Gods will and discernment. We are working with the Kurdish Government and waiting on different approvals and documentation to proceed. Due to the nature of what this deployment is focused on, the planning is extensive. We have areas in our home with floor to ceiling supplies to bring for the refugees and hopefully, for the escaped sex slaves.

We are going to continue interviewing personnel, preparing ourselves to help rehabilitate the traumatized women, to train the Peshmerga as the Lord opens the doors, and of course assist in refugee relief as the opportunity presents itself. Thank you all for your continued prayer and support. We do ask for prayer for my health so when the date comes to deploy I will be healthy and strong to do the work God calls us to. IF you would like more information or would like to help please feel free to email us at FTGFpsalm91@gmail.com.

Prayer- we hope to continue raising a call for intercession for those persecuted. We are agreeing with you all as we cry out to the Lord for His mercy for the Peshmerga, the captives, the refugees, and for ISIS members to see truth of Jesus Christ.

Updates from the “doc” -“16 people came forward to accept Jesus!!!”

Today left for a refugee camp 45 minutes away. This camp is open business fronts that we’ve been to before. There are approx 10 families living there. Did a clinic with Katie. An approx 3 year old girl had a palm sized road rash on the left side of her face after getting hit by a car. They had a dressing on her face that was really stuck on so I soaked it and pulled it off millimeter by millimeter while Jessica and her mother held her. She was screaming and crying, Jessica was crying and her mother was crying too. I felt horrible. Cleaned it, put triple antibiotic cream on it, put a petroleum dressing on and then secured it. Had an 11 y/o Japanese boy (who the others introduced as Bruce Lee) come up and hug me as soon as we got there. It seems he may have some MR. While I was doing the clinic, he came up complaining of a soar throat and then asked us for a wife! The interpreter was translating for me and was fighting back laughter. I told him I’d see what I had in my medical bag as far as wives went. I opened the bag and felt around and then exclaimed that I was all out of wives. We then handed out diapers, wipes and formula. After this we went to a house up on a hill where four families were staying and gave them the rest of what we brought. We met a guy who owns a construction company that specializes in disaster shelters and he is interested in seeing Kurdistan get on its feet. That night many of the team members went to a 50 hour prayer event at a nearby church for a couple hours. Katie, Jess and I stayed behind to prepare for the next day.

9-26

Took everyone out to a refugee camp in a nearby town. There are approx 10 families living in unfinished business fronts there. We brought diapers, wipes and formula and also provided medical help. Jonah and I redressed the road rash wound on the baby who was hit by a car. It looks like it is healing well. During the distribution all the families gathered around and talking became excited and loud, like usual.

9-27
Today we went to a Shabak camp on the periphery of Erbil. There are about 20 families here (we have visited this camp once or twice previously). About 9 new people came with us. These people were from the US and also an elderly missionary couple from Turkey; they have come for the 50 hour prayer event. Among them was a Christian musician named David. I’d heard him sing once when I went by the church. He has a great voice and is a skilled guitarist. Katie and I each set up clinics. She had a DR from Kansas (used to practice in Egypt but then moved to the US ) as interpreter and Jonah interpreted for me. J is an OR RN who fled here from Qarakoch, so it’s very nice having him help me cause we can discuss our best treatment options for each patient. While we treated patients, the team handed out shoes, hygiene bags and food. I left early to get the people from the church home (they didn’t know the directions home). After I left the rest of the team watched the Jesus Film on a wall using a projector Sean brought. After the film Q gave a message and 16 people came forward wanting to accept Jesus! They handed out solar powered speakers with the bible in Arabic loaded into them. Got the team to the church and talked with a couple of them over some food. Listened in on the service and was surprised to see M there (a 17 y/o refugee I have had conversations with regarding Christ)! He got a ride in with a guy named J from the international church. Got back to prepare morale bags and IFAKs for the Peshmirga we would see in the morning.

9-28

Left early with the 5 new team members. Went to a city nearby city. This is one of the front line cities. We went to a nearby post and treated maybe 20 Peshmirga while David played worship songs. J helped me and Tanner prayed for each of my patients after I saw them. We then went to a post that was approx 2K from a small village that was occupied by ISIS. Set up a clinic here. J had to interpret for both Katie and I! David was inside playing music. Tanner was praying for the soldiers. We finished up and still the rest of the team wasn’t back so we hung out inside with the soldiers. David improvised a song that went: Kurdistan, Kurdistan. Freedom in your lang Kurdistan. Hallelujah, Yeshua, Kurdistan. It was a big hit and he was asked to play it over and over. The soldiers sang along as best they could. David asked them if we could pray for them do we linked up arm on shoulder in a circle and David prayed for them. At the end they told us that it looked like a wedding because they link up in a circle like this at weddings. Everyone laughed. One of the soldiers asked Katie to sing them a song and immediately everyone was begging her to sing. She blushed and resisted but eventually gave in and sang How Great is Our God with David backing her up on guitar. She got a very warm applause. A captain there told us that he had been around Americans before but none as fun as us!

More refugees!

Another area north was found that has 300,000 refugees in worse condition than those in Erbil. We are hoping and praying to help them soon.

Toby and Katie are working with Crisis Response International and have both extended their stays. Please cover them with your prayers.  Last week they picked up shoes to distribute to refugees, did a scout of another area with thousands of refugees in dire need, and set up clinics. Here is Tobys note on that:

 9-16
We stopped by some of the church’s storage containers and picked up 4,000 Tom’s shoes to bring up with us for the Yazidi refugees.  I’d known that Tom’s donated a pair of shoes to the poor for every pair bought but was pleasantly surprised to see this in action. We met a couple named Jordan and Debbie. They are living here working as teachers and serving refugees in the area. Talked to them about the work being done in the area and the main needs of the Yazitis.  They work here as teachers but spend their own money to help out refugees.  After eating we took a taxi to a shop to price out some clothes for refugees for the future if we come back to this area.
9-17 Set up 3 clinics in 3 different places and visited 2 field hospitals.  Stocked 1 hospital with OTC meds and 10 kits.  Went back to the hotel and then delivered the shoes to Jordan and Debbie’s home.  We are storing the shoes there for a later date when we will be able to distribute them.
Please continue to pray for the plight of the refugees, those still captive by ISIS, and the Peshmerga! Thank you all for your prayer cover. It is most important, powerful, and effective.

Little Daniel is out of the hospital!

Toby has extended his stay, please keep him in your prayers as he serves another month:
Here is Tobys documenting of Daniels recovery after his surgery:
9-22
Katie and I went to see Daniel at the Hospital.  He’s back on the floor.  He only spent one night in ICU.   The hospital was happy to get the money for the surgery.  Daniel’s whole family is extremely thankful and asked us to thank everyone who pitched in for this surgery.  Dr A came by to see Daniel at about 2pm and gave us a pretty thorough explanation, along with showing us pictures, of the surgery and what was found inside.  He stated that the cyst was very advanced and had caused lots of inflammation and Daniel had been dealing with lots of pain.  Daniel slept for most of our approx 5 hour visit and when he was awake you could see he was hurting.   Our contact met us at the house shortly after we got home and then we spent the rest of the day organizing the supplies in the garage.  During dinner our contact told us a lot about Islam and how once he converted he felt embarrassed that he had ever believed Islam.  He explained that Muhammad was prophesied about in the bible as the false prophet who would come to deceive and cause persecution of Christians.  He’s emailing me the info concerning this.  When he speaks about his faith in Christ his countenance radiates (no better way of describing it).  He has lots of you tube videos up that are evangelistic.
9-23
Visited Daniel at the hospital.  Today he was much better than the previous day.  He was awake, smiling and talking.  The day before he had a bit of a fever but today his temperature was normal.  He played with the RC car for a bit but it was such a pile it could only creep forward.
9-24
Cleaned up around the house in preparation for the directors visit. He will be flying in tomorrow night late.  Got a call from B saying Daniel is going home and that I needed to call sabat (accounting).  Called sabat (also known as mishcula which means “problem”) and he said that there were a few more costs that needed to be covered prior to Daniel’s being discharged.  Took a taksi to the hospital and then went to sabat with B.  They gave us an itemized wasle (receipt) that was in good order.  We owed an additional $1258.  Daniel looks almost better than we’ve ever seen him.  His skin color is good.  He is able to walk around and move well.  Put him in a wheelchair and then took him down to the truck B has been borrowing from a friend.  We brought an Arabic, a Kurdish and an audio Arabic (MP3) bible for them.  They were New Testament only. Daniel had a note book he was drawing in and I wrote him a letter and then drew a horse underneath it.  He colored the horse and drew a pasture around it.  Lots of fun, laughing and talking and eating. BTW, when you eat in Iraq, you are sitting on 3″ foam mats on the floor.  Water is brought in on a tray followed by tea.  After these a plastic sheet is placed on the floor in the middle of the room and all the dishes are placed.  Every one scoots up to the Matt and serves themselves from the common bowls and plates of food.  If you are careless and finish your plate, many times someone will scoop more food onto it automatically.  When your done you need to scoot back from the matt and if someone offers to give you more food just make a big deal about how full you are with your hand on your belly and say “thank you” and “good” in as many ways as you can: e.g. mom noon, sposs, zor sposs, bosh, zor bosh, zien, shukran and thank you.
